Rowoon, K-drama star, to star in Japanese film ‘The Last Man: First Love’

Imagine Christmas Eve in Japan: lights twinkling, theaters packed, and one of Korea’s most loved stars stepping onto the big screen for the very first time. That’s exactly what fans will see this December when Rowoon makes his film debut in the Japanese movie ‘The Last Man: First Love’.

The movie is an extension of the widely popular 2023 drama ‘The Last Man: The Blind Profiler’. The series had already grabbed audiences with its thrilling storyline. And now, the film version promises to bring back the same suspense, but of course with a fresh twist.

At the heart of the story is Hiromi Minami, played by Japanese superstar Masaharu Fukuyama, a blind FBI profiler whose sharp mind makes up for what his eyes cannot see. Alongside him is Shintaro Godo. It’s a fiery detective portrayed by Yo Oizumi. As a team, the two navigate cases that test their skills.

Rowoon enters this world as Clyde Yoon, another FBI investigator, who isn’t just a side character but someone who shakes up the dynamic between Minami and Godo. Producer Higashinaka explained why Rowoon was chosen: “Clyde is a powerful presence, someone who can match Minami’s intensity. Rowoon’s charisma and ability to hold the screen made him the perfect fit. He brings something unforgettable to the role.”

For Rowoon, this project marks more than just a new acting credit. It’s a leap across borders. The actor and former SF9 member, known for shows like ‘Extraordinary You’ and ‘The King’s Affection’, shared how meaningful this chance was for him.

“Working in Japan has been a dream and a challenge,” he said. “I wanted to experience acting in a different language and culture. My character, Yoon, is ambitious, confident, and always reaching for success. I hope people notice how he grows and transforms through the story.”

The film, titled ‘The Last Man: First Love’, arrives in theaters in Japan on December 24, a perfect time for a holiday release.
